Personal Development Skills And Planning

Personal development encompasses any activity that promotes awareness and identity and helps in the pursuit of goals and dreams. It can also be done throughout a person’s whole life. This goal goes beyond self-help and includes both formal and informal activities to help others become better leaders, managers, mentors, counselors, guides, counselors, life coaches, or mentors. It is the process of identifying the programs, tools, techniques, assessments, and methods that support personal growth in an institution’s background. This is a long-lasting process. It allows people to identify their strengths and talents, set goals and determine their future.

The key to a successful life is growth. People should be prepared for personal growth. These include communication skills and interaction skills, maturation, and our ability to think more clearly. This course has been designed to help you understand how you can improve your human relations. Our growth is based on the life experiences and skills we acquire. We will discover that the world is full of different types of people. Different personalities will make it easier to meet people. Personal development planning involves creating an action plan, based on knowledge, values, reflection and goal-setting. This plan can be used to help you achieve your goals in a career, education or relationship. A personal development plan can include a statement on one’s career priorities and career positioning, analysis, risk assessment and other plans, and a curriculum. A portfolio is a record of skills and knowledge that was acquired during a given time frame in personal development plans. PDPs are thought to be an important tool for self-directed learners, who are more likely and able to move up in the academic ladder. PDPs are also used in human-resource management. Employee CVs often require personal development plans. Employed people are often required to complete a personal growth plan. My PDP stated that the main goal was to improve communication and social skills. I planned to talk more with my teacher about the areas where I was failing. It was possible to better understand the concepts in class by making use of the instructor’s office hours. This was the most important change I made. I was able to spend more time with my instructors learning and to ensure that I understood everything that was taught in class. I’ve always been able to communicate with the teacher if I had any questions or concerns. My PDP also included social development. I was unable to communicate well with other people. These skills are vital in the workplace and I must develop them to avoid a skill gap in my workplace. My PDP aimed to improve my interpersonal skills. I was able to build relationships with people during this semester by giving more time to them. This was possible by applying for an elective position as a representative in one the school’s professional clubs. This leadership role was crucial for me to develop my leadership skills. This position has helped me improve my communication skills as I had to relay the issues and needs of club members to the leaders. Due to the additional responsibilities I have, I am able to listen better and be more focused. I wanted to make friends on campus and off. Extra-curricular activities were one way I was able to reach this goal. Because I’m not very athletic, it was difficult to choose a sport or club. This was something I understood and decided to join the badminton squad. Since then, I have been an active badminton participant.

It has made it easier to manage stress by having an extra-curricular and social activity. It has allowed me to be more active and productive. It has been a great experience to join the badminton club. To manage my time, I created a weekly schedule that listed the activities I would do each week to ensure I didn’t miss any. While the weekly schedules worked well, some semester goals were not met. Poor execution and overcrowding have made the time schedule difficult to follow. Some milestones required for the semester, such reading inspirational books, have not been reached. My schedule for reading inspirational literature was too crowded. I have not achieved half of my goals. According to Folkman and Zenger (2009), inspiration literature is essential for motivation. I’m not an excellent leader currently. I avoid taking on leadership roles in groups, for example as a team leader. If you want to make a difference in your career, you need to be able to lead others. It is important to work in a team. Great things happen when people get together. Mind Tools Content Team, 2019, describes the role of a team leader as someone who can bring together people and help them to succeed. It is a key factor in determining success. Part time work was what I wanted to do in order to apply the theories and gain practical experience in the field. Unfortunately, I was unable to find employment in my specialization. This has left me with only a partial accomplishment. I got a job as a car salesman, which I don’t consider ideal for the practice of the skills I have learned throughout my study. The experience I gained was not worth the time I spent. To ensure I get the most experience possible, I will dedicate more time to finding the right work. The ability to resolve conflicts is what I want. I dislike getting into heated arguments so I often withdraw before it escalates. There are many chances that we may find ourselves in conflict with colleagues or ourselves. These conflicts should be dealt with in a friendly manner using negotiation skills. In order to reach an agreement, sometimes people have to compromise on their needs. If there is a conflict, it is important that the leader ensures that everyone feels heard and is satisfied. To graduate with honors, my performance is below average. Activities that increase the knowledge gained in class and out of class will require more time. It is important to practice the skills you have learned. This will be the case for the next four semesters. My academic performance will be the main focus of my studies. I will devote more time to this aspect, as well as other activities, such sports. I will keep records of my activities regarding work experience and personal character development. The plan will help me to acquire the skills and knowledge that are needed by the market. It will integrate academic and personal development. Personal learning activities like spending more time in libraries researching on important aspects of my professional area will be considered. This will mean that I will need to spend more time searching for work in my field. This will allow me learn from others and incorporate their knowledge into my skills. (Niven 2006. p. 295) To improve my career prospects, I need to make developmental changes. To improve my confidence, I will take part in more social activities. Aim to attend one social event each week. Because these skills are required in the professional environment, it will be important to pay attention to interpersonal and leadership skills. Since life is about learning, it will be important to establish learning habits (Fry 2009, p.124).

My learning culture will include motivational literature as a major part of my daily habits and learning. I will learn to manage my time so that I can read at least one motivational book per month. I will seek out a mentor to help me improve my employment prospects, recognize my weak points and make improvements. I will ensure that I meet with my teacher at least once per semester. I will then ask the teacher to give me feedback about my career prospects, and what skills I need. I will ensure that the teacher is able to give feedback on my work and make suggestions. The development plan must also include financial goals. This was one of my greatest weaknesses. It was not addressed in the last PDP. Financial freedom and independence are the goals of this program. I must learn how to save money. Half of my holiday income will be saved. I will work to reduce my spending and only buy the essentials. The best way to avoid excessive spending is to cut out unnecessary and low-value activities. Personal development plans are essential in tracking developmental changes necessary to achieve set goals. Planning is essential because it gives people the opportunity to set goals and plan how to achieve them.
